Margaria Leão she dedicated herself to the arts starting in the 1980s, writing a doctoral thesis on the Cerveira Biennial and the Art Encounters held between 1974 and 2007. She served as a co-producer for several editions of the Cerveira International Art Biennial with the Associação Projecto – N.D.C. She worked as an art teacher in the public secondary education system while simultaneously developing her own identity as an artist—working as a painter, ceramicist, and printmaker.
